Beth Hart

Beth Hart is a Los Angeles native and blues-singing rock star. She was a street performer and began her career with Immortal in 1995. Her frank, open personality, musicianship and emotion-filled live shows attracted attention. "Hart is the epitome of a natural woman," wrote Chuck Taylor for the October 2nd, 1999 issue of Billboard magazine "bawdy and funny, lively and fluttering around with her choice of spicy language. But that's white bread as compared to her presence on stage which is where the tall and graceful singer/songwriter walks around and blasts out songs with the vim of Mick Jagger .... At other times, she takes her place at the piano or the center stage, where she sits without a hint of pretense, legs straddled over the sides of a chair, her voice so delicate and pained that you're wondering whether she's about to break down, or in the event that you do. Hart was a teenager when she participated in amateur competitions and experienced similar reactions. However, she had reservations about the music industry before she embarked on her professional career. Eventually, touring the world over proved to be detrimental to the band, and Hart went under the radar for more than four years. Her time was that was spent contemplating her feelings and tackling problems that come from writing music. The year 1999 saw Hart came back to her professional work with the critically highly acclaimed Screamin' for My Supper. The album witnessed Hart's songwriting capabilities grow with vulnerable and honest songs about dealing with life's difficulties.
